Dayunfold is built around a simple rule: your journal is yours. This policy explains what data the app touches, where it lives, and what leaves your device.

What stays on your device

Journal entries and daily energy ratings are stored locally on your phone. They are not uploaded to our servers and we cannot read them.
Your chosen city (for weather patterns) is stored locally.
App preferences (reminders, response tone) are stored locally.

What we process on our servers

An anonymous account. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account (via Supabase) identified by a random ID — no name or email required. It tracks your daily AI-question allowance and subscription status. If you choose to sign in with Apple, your Apple-provided email is associated with this account so your allowance survives device changes.
AI conversations. When you ask the AI a question, your question and short excerpts from your recent check-ins (last 14 days) are sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI to generate a response. This data is used only to answer you; it is not used to train AI models and is not stored as part of any advertising profile.
Daily reflections generated for you are cached server-side against your anonymous ID so they aren't regenerated repeatedly.

Third-party services

Open-Meteo — weather and daylight history for your chosen city's coordinates. No account, no personal identifiers sent.
OpenAI — generates AI responses, as described above.
Apple / RevenueCat — process subscription purchases. We never see your payment details.
Sentry — anonymous crash reporting so we can fix bugs.

What we never do

No advertising, and no ad-tech SDKs.
No selling or sharing of your data.
No OS location permission — weather uses only the city name you type.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete my data permanently removes your server-side account and cached reflections, and signs you out. Deleting the app removes all on-device data. You can also email us for erasure requests.
